Your driving licence
To drive yourself you need to be 23 or older, with your national driving licence held for at least 2 years. We recommend an International Driving Permit alongside it: get one in your home country before you travel. You upload a photo of your licence and passport when you book, and show the originals when you collect the car.
Who can hireDriving in Uganda
Uganda drives on the left, like the UK and Japan. Roads to the national parks can be rough and slow, so for gorilla trekking, Murchison Falls or Queen Elizabeth choose a 4x4 or an SUV, and plan to drive in daylight.

Hire any car with one of our professional chauffeurs, who know the roads, the parks and the way back. It adds UGX 50,000 a day to the car, and you can simply enjoy the view.

Book an airport transfer with your flight number and we meet you at arrivals, day or night: one price per car, driver included, to Kampala and the areas around it. Or collect your hire car at the airport.

Our prices show in your own currency at today’s rate: pounds, dollars, yen, euros and more (change it at the bottom of any page). You pay in Uganda shillings, so the amount in your currency is an estimate. Hires of several days get a long-hire discount.

Our team confirms the final price and how to pay when they confirm your booking. Pay by Visa or Mastercard when you collect the car (paying online by card is coming soon), or by MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money or cash. From abroad, money transfer apps such as WorldRemit or Remitly send straight to Ugandan mobile money.
Booking guideKampala time
Every time on our website is Kampala time (East Africa Time, UTC+3, no daylight saving), so the pick-up time you choose is the time in Uganda. We are open every day, 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM Kampala time, and answer WhatsApp and email from anywhere.
If your plans change
Flights move. Cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before pick-up, online in My account or with Manage Booking. If you paid, the refund goes back by the same method.
